Review and Rewind 2020.

The clock ticked 11:50 pm on December 31st, and I was eagerly waiting to welcome the new year and explore 2020.

The year, 2019 gave me all the happiness, love and blessings and now was it’s time to depart. I was eager to find out what changes will the leap year brings to my life. Though North India was freezing the winters of Bangalore is much more pleasant.

Being new to the place, I had no friends and couldn’t decide to celebrate elsewhere and landed up hosting a party for myself at my cosy place. Then I didn’t know that this 2BHK flat will be the place where I will be locked for so many months. All festivals, parties and occasions will be celebrated only here.

With the beginning of the New year, I started job hunting and growing my small business simultaneously. I didn’t know what was striding towards us and I was specific for my job opportunities turning down several positions.

January:

In January, all my Chinese friends and students went for their Chinese new year when I heard that a virus has emanated in the country from Wuhan. My friends from China kept apprised me about the situation and kept on updating me with videos and photos. Many of them approached me asking for masks availability as there masks were out of stock everywhere. The small MSME’s were in the loss and the owners were worried and tensed. I kept on supporting them mentally when students mentioned me as their “Soul teacher”.

Every morning their day started with authorities arriving at door-step for a temperature check. The first case of CoronaVirus was reported on 30th January in Kerala from a person who returned from Wuhan, China. Soon it spread in other parts of the country.

The team of WHO paid a visit to China and after return WHO tweeted that there is no human to human transmission. Despite the fact that the doctors of China mentioned that human transmission is possible. The entire world did trust the global organisation and relied on the statement.

  • Meanwhile, in the United States of Colorado and Nebraska reported mysterious drones in the sky.
  • The movie Parasite won the Oscar in January.
  • The first day of the year started with bushfires in Australia. Basically, the bushfire started from September 19 till March 20.
  • As the year started, on 3rd January, the U.S. drone strike killed General Qassem Soleimani raised tension with Iran.
  • On January 27, an agreement was signed between the government of India, Bodo groups and the Assam government to redraw and rename the BTAD in Assam.

February:

Many applicants put the enrollment on hold as they informed that their banks are closed and they will be in lockdown. I lost all my students who were about to start the new batch. They said that as soon as the virus abolishes will get back to me. By then, the SARS-like virus has already a name and it known as COVID-19.

  • On 11th February, in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party won the election by securing 62 seats out of 70 at Delhi Legislative Assembly election-2020.
  • The cocktail of NRC+CAA didn’t go well which ultimately resulted in Delhi riots.
  • The cause of the riots was hate speech, confrontations, CAA protests, provocations. The riot resulted in the death of 53 people and 200+ injured.

Well, we all know that the royal and golden guest Donald Trump arrived in India on 24 February. The event was addressed as “Namaste Trump”.

I celebrated my birthday without my friends but this time it was special. However, I went for dinner on the date. Meanwhile, my blogs were performing well especially the coronavirus blogs of mine and grabbed the eyeballs of many across the world.

India sealed Chinese borders and ban all flights flying too and from China.

March:

Time flies by, I entered the month of Holi, yes the month of March.

In no time, the virus crossed the borders and spread to the USA, Europe and a few more countries.

India initially successfully managed to rein in Coronavirus spread but all went in vain when on 3rd March, 69 years old Italian spread the virus in Rajasthan.

Most of the MNC’s declared work from home. WHO declared 2019-nCov as a pandemic.

The government was taking all safety measures like temperature check, closed all mass gathering points, religious places, restaurants, pubs and bars, all educational hubs along with tourist places were closed.

India evacuated its citizens from China, Iran, Maldives and other countries.

By 18th of March, 7447 confirmed cases were reported with 239 deaths. Many celebrities and influencers were busy educating people to wear masks and use hand sanitizers. Social media and channels broadcasted educational videos and ads to make people aware of precautions and preventative measures.

Where so much was going through along with the blogs, I was also busy writing my E-novel Nillie and had its own fanbase from India, Egypt, Iran, China and a few more countries. Besides writing I was also giving interviews parallelly and luckily I got selected in multiple companies but I was more excited to clear the round of an MNC which was about to hire me as their marketing manager. They asked me to create an assignment in the final round and submit by 26th March on which my selection will prevail.

I was working day and night, understanding the company, requirements, as the job role was new for me and being experienced in sales the domain was new for me.

On 22nd March, Indian prime minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and called for 21 days complete lockdown.

We were asked to stay at home, only essential items were available. With the announcement, I went to stock ration from the nearby stores and found people were busy in panic shopping.

After returning from the market, I woke up the whole night to prepare the presentation and was about to send at the EOD.

Early morning, I received mail from the HR where she mentioned that as Government has announced locking we are keeping our hiring on hold till the economic condition improves. I was devastated and shocked but somehow I already knew that this might happen. With this, all other companies froze the hiring, and I was jobless and hopeless where I decided to give blogging a try and find other opportunities in my business.

By 25th March, the world was gasping with the shortage of ventilators, noted personalities pledged and donated to the funds. Health infrastructure, of many countries, broke down. Countries like Italy, France, and entire Europe and the United States, lost the battle against the virus. While most of the people in the world we’re in lockdown situation in China started to get normal. People returned back to their businesses and public place resumed. But that didn’t bring much happiness, for international suppliers from China as they lost many contracts, no buyers were ready to purchase their products.

WHO follows the bigger power?

The world raised questions and criticised WHO over handling the pandemic and taking a long time to declare openly about the virus.

The question was if China found that the virus is humanly transmitted then why didn’t they inform the world beforehand?

By now, the world started speculating, assuming and creating stories about the virus. It was clear by now, that China has emerged as the most powerful country in the UN and has means to silence global institutions.

Coronavirus-Global current update|Nihang’s case

The global confirmed cases of Coronavirus have now skyrocketed to 2,831,785 cases according to John Hopkins Coronavirus resource centre, with cases the in US and Italy outnumbering that of China. It has to be noted that it took just 1 day for the cases to increase by 0.1 million.

Confirmed cases in the US and Europe are spreading like wildfire and there seems to be no stopping to it. India which has 24000+ confirmed cases as of now is bracing for much more as the rate of testing has been increased by the government. United States, Italy and Spain are reeling under the pain of the loss of lives.

The US has passed a bill of the record $2.2 trillion to fight this, with confirmed cases surpassed 5,61,103 and around 22106 deaths.

Current cases in India as per today’s statistics is 24000+ Out of which, 5,063 have recovered.

India extended the lockdown, yet the upcoming news shows very clearly that it could have been implemented much better also it might extend.

Migrants flocking in thousands at bus terminals, having been walked for days to reach bus stands, some being run over by Trucks on road, dying of exhaustion as they walk all the way hundreds of kilometres to their natives and some surviving only on biscuits and water due to this lockdown.

The gathering of people in such large numbers, cramped in spaces and sent back to their natives such as Bihar, UP, MP and Rajasthan defeats the purpose of lockdown and increases the risk of even wider spread in states where health infrastructure is already in a dismal state. The government in the meanwhile issued numerous statements ranging from Bihar government to establish shelters over other states to Delhi government saying all migrants in Delhi are Delhiites and it is their responsibility, yet not an iota of any actions was taken. In the meantime, we see Indian again resorting to frugal yet efficient methods of combating like trains being converted to makeshift quarantine field hospitals.

Nihang’s case

This Sunday, a group of Nihangs chopped off the hand of a police officer Harjeet Singh who is an assistant sub-Inspector, injuring 3 others policemen as well.

It took 7.5 hours of plastic surgery and successfully the doctors reattached his hand. Again our doctors proved that they are the superheroes and God.

People have tweeted their opinions in this case.

Sunday’s incident of lawlessness can be attributed to the fact that the Nihangs only wish to follow orders of the Guru and perhaps consider orders from the administration an attack on their sovereignty, a scholar said.

The world is scrambling to find a cure, economies are in a dismal state, destitute having faced double whip of loss of jobs and no access to food and water. This virus does not differentiate between your economic status or stature and has not spared even the Prince and the Prime minister of Britain. The good news is that he is recovering.

Boris Johnson

The incident of Tablighi Jamaat and later on gave the pandemic a new turn in India is Communavirus. When the World is only dealing with Coronavirus, we are actually dealing with communalism and novel COVID-19 at the same time along with poverty, low economy and lots more.

Director worried about how intimate scenes will be shot after COVID-19.

As we know, we all are fighting with the novel Coronavirus and maintaining social distance, actually, this is something to something to wonder about how we will behave.

The coronavirus has taught us to live a simple life, staying at home is not so difficult.

But then, will things get to normal as it was?

The well-known Bollywood movie director Shaujit Sarkar has his own worries. The concern he has actually can change the whole pattern of movies, web-series and all similar kinds. It will not just affect Bollywood but all other movie industries in this world.

Shoojit Sarkar wrote on this post- ‘When all that is over, then how will the cinema world shoot the intimate scene in such surroundings. Especially intimate, kissing/hugging scenes. How far or close to? Or will they be dishonest on storytelling in these intimate scenes for some time? ‘

Many celebrities and individuals are reacting to the subject.

Diya Mirza wrote – ‘Guru, your complete means of movie making is integral! So many individuals will come collectively one after the opposite to create a second of unity and efforts. You are speaking about intimate scene … how will that change? Will we arrive carrying masks and gloves? Only time will inform.

Other commented that the flowers of ’70s will be back. However, other’s are hoping that there will be some creativity on that part.

An individual raised another concern

How will the industry shoot at all, if they ban gathering of 50 or more people?

Modi’s macro actions have worked, now India needs micro focus.

After watching the video of the meeting broadcasted by TMC and reading the article on economic times, we can assume that the lockdown might extend for another two weeks.

Modi said that “the priority of the government is to save each and every life”.

But we need more weapons than just lockdown to fight with COVID-19.

Let’s read the opinion of Shekhar Gupta on Modi’s lockdown.

About three weeks back when India started testing selectively then they found that many people coming from overseas were tested positive along with their families that alarmed India to take such a massive action.

There was no major or widespread testing, India’s testing was very low compared to other countries ever lower than Pakistan which led to criticism.

Shekhar Gupta

This Indian lockdown is the severest n the world, the economist carried a chart based on studied by a group in Oxford which ranked the countries on a severity index on their response to COVID-19.

India topped the chart in the world, while India topped the chart according to the intensity of the lockdown, on the other side India was at the bottom of the chart when it came to a fiscal stimulus for the economy in terms of percentage of GDP.

So in severity, India was even ahead of Italy but in fiscal stimulus, India was lowest which you can understand because in the entire group India was by far the poorest of all other countries.

Must read:

In fact, the next poorest countries are China and Malaysia at five times per capita GDP than India.

India as it continues with the lockdown or extends it, it’s risky for the economy or our country. Though the upper or middle classes can overcome the lockdown, it’s the poor and farmers who will face difficulties as the engines of the economy have stopped. As many people live on daily wages for them the situation is critical, either not coronavirus hunger might kill them.

As Shekhar Gupta says unlike the US, India doesn’t have the ability to print money as Donald Trump is doing.

Let me explain, why

India follows a gold standard policy, under which every rupee is backed by a similar value of the gold reserve hence giving actual value to the piece of paper. On the other hand, almost all of the global trade happens over USD, as well as the US, being a resilient economy made it move away from Gold standards and instead make the ‘faith over the economy’ as it’s value driver.

What we need at this point now to find the major weapon or micro focus action and plan.

Also read:

Major possibilities to control, are:

  • Extend the lockdown
  • Completely lift the lockdown
  • Seal the hotspots and gradually lift the lockdown from other areas.

The third option might be a better option as some factories or companies will start fo work, like pharma factories which will again lead to commutation hence communication modes will start to operate but then the spreading of the virus can also spread faster.

So what’s your say in this, comment below. Let the nation know, citizen’s views.

Easy refreshing drinks during the lockdown.

You can fill the day with these beverages and it works as your filler.

Blue-squash Lassi

Lassi is a cooling and refreshing drink, it is popular in north India especially Punjab, Delhi and nearby states but it became so popular that now entire nation drinks it.

To make a quick drink for two, I just poured all the curd in a bowl.

Blend it with your blender or whisker, I added 5 tea-spoon sugar, a pinch of salt and mix the curd till it becomes smooth. Add a little bit of water, say 1/3 of the glass.

Must read:

Keep on whirling till the time the sugar dissolves and you see a foamy layer on the top.

Now add any squash you have, rose water, dry fruits, cardamom of your choice.

I added Manama blue Curacao syrup as a topping.

Preparation time: 7 minutes.

Blue Curacao bubbly Mocktail

So this is another refreshing drink.

I have a Manama blue Curacao syrup so I decided to prepare a mocktail.

Preparation time: 3minutes

You just need to take a glass, fill it with ice.

Mix 1/4 th part of syrup and the remaining with soda.

You can even add water instead of soda. I added a half teaspoon of sugar as well, stir it and your refreshing mocktail is ready.

Do you know, how much time we invest in social media during the lockdown?

Know the effects of using social media.

After the lockdown, everyone is active on social media, many of them are displaying their cooking talents including me.

A friend of mine wants to become a stand-up comedian, due to the busy schedule he could never give his time to nurture his talent. So now, he is utilising the social platform by sharing jokes, publishing videos on youtube.

Another friend of mine is learning art and painting from YouTube and sharing her talent with us.

Credit: Swati Gupta

We have increased our 87% usage and on average we spend 4-5 hours per day just on Facebook and WhatsApp.

And my beautiful girls are so busy, so many daily challenges are there to fulfil to make this world beautiful. Seeing their beautiful smiling faces makes us forget all the problems we are facing right jow.

Even the coronavirus finds it so angelic and delightful that they spare the girls who perform:

  • Saree challenge
  • No-make challenge
  • Mother-daughter challenge
  • Googles challenge
  • Couple challenge

By far, I have been receiving these challenges.

According to Business Today, Indians have turned to social media to pass their time.

Before the lockdown, social media usage was on average 150 minutes per day. However, in the first week of lockdown, the figures jumped to 280 minutes per day, showed a survey. The survey added that 75 per cent of people were spending more time on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp compared to the week before.

What people do in social media

In social media, people were largely consuming news and communicating with their friends and families as coronavirus grappled the country.

Our brain is restless, it needs an opportunity to do something. We are hunter-gatherers and social media gives us the opportunity to read, learn, watch, listen, share the post, upload etc..

Ego needs a platform to showcase itself, 80% of our online conversation are sharing our opinions, thoughts, self-appreciation, display of our talent.

After posting any picture we wait for likes and comment, a person like me after publishing a blog, I check the viewer’s stats.

According to research, lonely people are more social friendly.

Using Tiktok has increased despite the fact that it is a Chinese app and many of us are demanding of uninstalling it but people are spending their time making videos especially celebrities.

The demerit of Social Media

Extreme use of social media leads to depression.

Social media creates immense pressure. This is known as FOMO, a trendy new acronym used to describe anxiety of feeling left out, lacking talent, missing events. So the anxiety raises when we see people are doing much better in their lives and we start comparing it with others.

I hope many of us by far has experienced laziness and restlessness as we are using twitter, Facebook, Instagram a lot these days. Because this is a common symptom of being so active in social media.

A study from Harvard University showed that self-disclosure online boosts a part of the brain that also lights up when taking cocaine.

You might face sleeping disorders.

Coronavirus-World in distress seeking answer from WHO & China

PART-2

To summarize Part 1,

  • The world already started to ask questions to the director-general of WHO – Dr Tedros.
  • The US has directly blamed the WHO of siding with China.
  • China controls many votes in WHO due to its political relations with many countries who are almost dependent on China for its economic, military and political reasons.
  • Why has not WHO, not for a single time mentioned the root cause of these viruses again emanating from these wet markets, which has been called my many institutions, research and even by Chinese citizens to be banned?

Read in details by clicking the link:

https://romieducation.com/2020/03/29/coronavirus-world-in-distress-seeking-answer-from-who-china/

Part-2 Continuous

Times have changed, and the truth is between 2002-03 and 2020, China is much bigger power, and the US is now a much lesser one. There were many warnings on these Wet markets on the basis of research of WHO itself as early as 2018 on the threat of new coronaviruses emanating from these places threatening the world as global pandemic.

What is funny that until Jan 23, WHO tweeted that there is no human to human transmission despite the fact that a Chinese epidemiologist Dr. Zhong Nanshan on Jan 20 made a statement that actually human to human transmission is possible. Note that Wuhan went on lockdown on Jan23.!!

Dr. Tedros himself went to China to check the facts twice, yet he found nothing wrong and in-fact praised Xi Jinping. It’s a slap in the face of humanity who rely on these institutions.

Xi Jinping

Now all this is coming back to haunt Dr. Tedros and his credibility, with demands growing for his resignation. If China found human to human transmission, why did it not inform the world pre-hand. It seems that WHO is caught in an awful situation of what science dictates and a powerful country. He came back and praised China of identifying the virus in record time. Great!! What do I do of it? The ill-informed world kept on travelling to and fro from China and especially to Wuhan which is the size and population of the likes of Delhi and Mumbai.

Speaking of dying, A German finance minister committed suicide due to financial implications arising out of this virus, global confirmed death has crossed 51,299(as per the updated report). Deaths in India due to this has crossed 53, and we all are bracing for much more.

Thomas Schaefer

In these grim situations, we as humans should maintain the ethos of humanity and help those in needs as much as possible.

Numerous countries have returned Chinese masks and protective gears claiming it to be of sub-standard quality.

In the meantime, many countries discussed better control over biological weapons and Coronavirus was mention, giving it significant traction.

It is to be noted that WHO in the reform of 2005 has the power to act on it, over questioning the states on cover-up and it can declare an international emergency even in the face of opposition, yet it did not choose to exercise them.

China, we see has become very powerful in the UN and it has the means to silence even large global institutions. It brings in money, jobs and Infrastructure. Case in point is WHO and China becoming partner in OBOR. (One Belt One Road). It is evident that there is a problem in the UN which has come out in open. China, we all know is an authoritarian state and its citizens have no right to dissent. Very bad things can happen to you if you write anything criticising the Government. To me this seems to be the mother of all problems.

A group of researchers already raised red flag saying that such an outbreak is imminent and when a new case of pneumonia came up and it did not respond to normal medicines, and a group of 8 doctors researched it and raised the alarm. A normal democratic country would have taken this seriously and sent out a larger research team. However, this is China, instead they send police to silence them, government mouthpiece started criticising them and making fun of them, until the first of those doctor’s Li Wenliang contracted the disease himself and died raising criticism from the citizens.

While the government is taking it steps to arrest this infection by taking measures never done before like ordering all bodies to be cremated irrespective of religion, which was withdrawn later.

Many responsible citizens are also coming up and helping the people in need.

Tweet at @JhaRahul_Bihar to provide support to labours. Actively helping poor people and labours by providing food and immediate assistance. Already reached and helped 1000s of labours.

I see people with reach and means helping the needy, and some common people as well doing their part with whatever capacities they have.

An initiative is taken by my friend for a noble cause.

In these grim situations, we as humans should maintain the ethos of humanity and help those in needs as much as possible.

Through Facebook and Twitter in the last three days, Prashant Bharti became the voice of many labours who were stuck in different parts of our country. He has already reached out to 500-600 people and provided them with all government facilities.

Twitter account of Mr Prashant Bharti https://twitter.com/Bhart_09?s=09

For any support and assistance, you can reach him out directly.

World is scrambling to find a cure, economies are in dismal state, destitute having faced double whip of loss of jobs and no access to food and water. Let’s help each other during the difficult times.
